Slushies and Soup!

Image
What started off as a blah morning turned into a really fun day of laughter and trading stories with friends! I was feeling a little blue this morning so my sister suggested that I call up one of my high school friends to meet up. I did, and ended up hanging out with 3 of my old friends all afternoon! I first met up with Katie at, my favorite, the Green Tea Cafe downtown! I had the Strawberry Mango slush and she ordered a Thai Iced Tea. My slush was sweet and refreshing! I love it because it isn't overpoweringly sweet and fake tasting. Thumbs up! My friend Anu met up later and ordered an Almond Milk at my recomendation! ;) We had so much fun talking about our college lives and what it was like living in a dorm! We have all changed a bit, but it's rather refreshing. I feel like all our worlds have opened up and we are growing up. :) Of course, they were curious about Andrew, so I told them about him and showed off my lovely ring!!! :D After Green Tea Cafe started to get a little...

Happy 30th post!! :D

Yay! I've made it to 30 posts already! :) Writing this blog, taking pictures, cooking, and playing guitar have really become my summer projects/hobbies. It's been really fun! Yesterday, my dad made homemade carnitas (pork) burritos for lunch. Yum! The carnitas consisted of pork shoulder that my dad cleaned of fat and then cooked in the oven for a long time in herbs, chicken broth, and onions. The result was an intensely rich and flavorful pork! I really loved it! It doesn't seem to hard to make, but it takes time. I want to learn so I can make some for Andrew! We had the pork, Mexican rice, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and cheddar cheese. My dad forgot to make beans for himself, but that was okay with me. ;) The cilantro and onions were such a tasty touch with the meat and rice! This was delicious and not heavy or greasy! Here is a close-up of my burrito! So good! I like all the colors! In the afternoon, I went downtown to meet up with a friend that I had met in Ja...

5 Months!!! <3

Friday and Saturday were the best days of my life so far. Andrew came over to my place to spend the night and celebrate our 5 month anniversary! We hadn't seen each other in 3 weeks because he was busy, and it was so special to be with him again. :) It was truly wonderful! I am so full of love for him! On Friday afternoon we went downtown to get promise rings! We tried on quite a few, and luckily we found these, which are perfect! They look nice, they suit us, and they fit perfectly! They have a lovely swirly pattern that reminds me of roots, which is meaningful to us. :) I love my ring so much! It makes me feel so good and loved! After we first picked Andrew up from the Amtrak station Friday morning, we stopped by a little roadside farm stand to pick up some fresh veggies. I saw these large bouquets of sunflowers and got excited! Andrew and I picked out the bouquet with the biggest sunflower! It's so cheerful! (by the way, some of the pictures I am using in this entry were ta...

A Full Day!

Today was actually hot! *gasp* I for one did not like it, but my sister was excited. We went to do some shopping in the afternoon and decided to go Green Tea Cafe for some fruit slushes. I got the mango slush with mango jelly at the bottom, and my sister got a peach slush with boba (tapioca pearls) at the bottom. The mango slush is so refreshing and yummy! The jelly was interesting, very sweet. I love this cafe because they subsitute soy milk in their milk tea drinks!! YAY! This was dinner made by my dad! He made lime chicken burritos with beans and Mexican rice. This was his burrito, with everything on it; it's a monster! :D This was my more modest burrito. I don't like beans or burritos so this just had chicken, cheese, lettuce, and rice. It was a yummy and filling dinner! Not too spicy either! ;) Aahhh, these are the lovely and cheerful sunflowers my grandmother got me yesterday! I love them! Perfect for summer! I went on a walk today armed with my camera, iPod, and cell...
